Artist Profile: Sarah Houbolt

Sarah Houbolt is a creative entrepreneur, with skills in performance, project management, community engagement and creative sector development. After competing at the Sydney 2000 Paralympics in swimming, she trained for many years in aerials, acrobatics and hula hoops with Vulcana Women’s Circus in Brisbane.

She then moved to New Zealand and spent six years working in the arts in circus aerial theatre companies, children’s theatre, horror comedy productions, film & TV, corporate circus & physical theatre entertainment, and integrated dance.

With a passion for creativity and diversity, Sarah has also worked in local council arts programming, arts venues, festivals, state-wide organisations, innovative seed organisations and as a freelance circus teacher.

Sarah has university degrees in politics, sociology and social work and believes in the importance of effective arts management to secure inclusion in the arts and diversity on screen and stage.

She is happy to travel across Australia for work.
