Meeting Place 2017 will be co-hosted by PIAF & AAA with DADAA on March 2 with the Unboxed showcase on March 3. We are dedicated to broadening understanding and improving skills and access in the field of disability and the arts. The event supports cultural exchange between outstanding national and international artists with disability and the WA arts and disability community.

Meeting Place provides a platform for learning, discussion and debate on issues impacting artists, arts workers and leaders with disability and those with an interest in the sector.

Program highlights include:

  • Keynote address by Jenny Searley OBE, Director of Graeae Theatre Company in the UK.
  • A series of panel presentations on topics such as the arts and mental health, a conversation about how work by artists with disability is critiqued in Australia, formal training pathways for people with disability in the arts and a conversation about the impact of the National Disability Insurance Scheme on arts participation by people with disability.
  • A showcase pitching eight high-quality artists with disability to presenters, programmers and producers.
